Los Angeles-based alternative
rock band, TERI DANZ BAND (http://www.teridanz.com)
released its debut album on January 26,2002 , "GARDENS
IN THE CONCRETE", on Bleach Records
during a release party at The Cat Club on the Sunset
Strip. The record features 12 original songs, recorded
at the Art of Noise Recording Studio and LA Songwriter
Studio, and mastered at Moonlight Mastering.

"We were fortunate to work with so many talented
people," notes singer/songwriter Danz, "from
Nancy Matter (Moonlight Mastering, formerly of Disney)
to Eric Arm (engineer, Art of Noise Recording Studio)
and more. This record has been a long time in coming
and reflects the evolution of the songwriting, the
band in LA, and the path the music itself has taken."

The
CD begins with the No Doubt inspired "Better"
("I liked you better when you were a stranger
and my heart could fill in the gaps") about
initial hope in love and an eventual disillusionment.
Weighing the wreckage in "Damage",
the song reflects the toll relationships take on the
mind, body and soul. In "Starcrossed",
the band lilts to Danz's memories of a time long gone
with flowing riffs and spare acoustic arrangement.
As the CD builds, Danz's energy turns to the outside
world; in Rain, a homeless person waits in a doorway,
and in "Johnny Killed A Mockingbird",
Danz creates a metaphor for the events around the
Colombine High School incident with grungy electric
guitars and Nirvana like imagery. Finally, in a tribute
to her late grandmother ("The Road"),
she faces that relationship, her new road, and creates
a new beginning for herself and her life.

GARDENS IN THE CONCRETE is Danz's chronicle of rebuilding
her life after a painful breakup, and her subsequent journey
from San Francisco to LA. It marks her passage to finding
a new direction and a new chapter in her music career, with
influences ranging from No Doubt, Dave Matthews, U2, and
the Goo Goo Dolls. As an artist, Danz and her band embody
the themes of transformation, change, moving forward, and
following one's vision.

Danz is no stranger to the music business. As an Indie
label artist, her credits include the 12" dance/club
hit "Didn't Mean to Fall In Love" in the
early 90's. The record was a darling of record pools and
mix shows in NY, LA and SF. A BMI songwriter and vocal producer,
she's worked with Raz Kennedy (Bobby McFerrin, Counting
Crows) and many others. Currently, her band is appearing
in clubs around LA in anticipation of the new release.
